cloudOTDR Platform
Centralized workflow
When working with our cloudOTDR platform, measurements and other commands that are issued by a user are sent directly to our cloudOTDR platform and are placed in a queue. The cloudOTDR device that is associated with the project for which the command was issued will pick up these commands and executes them on a first-come-first-serve basis. Any generated results are sent back to the cloudOTDR platform and are then made available in the cloudOTDR app to be viewed by the users. This system is coupled with a comprehensive auto approval system which can validate measurements based on project requirements.
Benefits
This system offers several advantages:
Multitasking
Multiple users can issue commands to the same device without interfering with each other.
Efficiency
As the device executes the commands back-to-back, and the execution time is generally in the order of tens of seconds, the wait time is generally very low even if multiple users issue commands simultaneously.
Accessibility
Anyone with the required permissions, and an internet connection can view results, and issue commands from anywhere in the world.
Automation
Knowledge required by field technicians is reduced by the auto approval mechanism.
Resource Management
Knowledgeable technicians can be employed more efficiently, and can support multiple projects at different locations.
Solution overview
The cloudOTDR platform is central to all operations associated with cloudOTDR.
Project planners can create new projects on the cloudOTDR platform, assign a device to them, and upload the planning containing fiber patching and labelling information. If auto-approval is used, quality thresholds have to be applied to the project.
Technicians use their mobile application to send requests for actions such as measurement, or VFL activation to the cloudOTDR platform. This requests also contains information about the associated project and fiber number or label. The requests are placed the command queue of the appropriate project.
CloudOTDR devices connect to the cloudOTDR platform and check the command queue associated with their assigned project. Requests from the users are picked up from this queue on a first-come first-served basis, and processed by the device. Any results generated by the command are then uploaded back to the cloudOTDR platform.
The cloudOTDR receives the results uploaded by the device, processes them, and places them in storage. A push notification is sent to the mobile application of the technicians, after which the result can be viewed in the mobile application. If auto approval is used, the resulting pass/fail is shown.
When the project is completed, all .sor data is available on the cloudOTDR platform and can be used to generate a report.
Our API can be used to automate the planning and reporting phase. All measurement data is available through our API.
Why choose for cloudOTDR
This system offers several advantages:
Multi-user
Queue system providing access for multiple users to use a single device without interfering with each other.
Expandable
Expandable multi fiber solution. The integrated 12 port switch can be expanded with external switches up to large fiber counts.
Connectivity
Integrated 4G connectivity, no need to setup external internet connectivity. An ethernet port is available if an external solution is desired.
Measurements
Multi launch fiber stacks provide valid measurements on all channels.
Identification
Integrated VFL provides easy fiber identification and cross-checking.
Monitoring
Remote switch setups enable large networks to be monitored by a single cloudOTDR device.
